Raquy and the Cavemen are a duo of virtuoso drummers / multi-instrumentalists who bring hard rock energy to the mystical rhythms of the Middle East. They will be returning to Northampton for the 4th year in a row to help raise funds for local non-profit Evolvegan's Vegan Bus Project.

Raquy and the Cavemen switch between energetic drumming compositions and intoxicating melodic pieces. Utilizing a variety of unusual instruments including the Kemenche (an ancestor of the violin), Dumset (Middle Eastern drum set) and Mongolian Throat singing (see full instrument descriptions below), Raquy and the Cavemen's huge sound and mind-blowing show leaves listeners transported, uplifted and full of joy.

Three Vegan Music Shows in Northampton this Summer! by vegan busdriver

We are super-psyched to be part of bringing three music events to Northampton in the next couple of months. These shows will help us raise funds and bring awareness to the Vegan Bus Project as we get ready to kick off our 2009 tour season. Plus, they will be lots of fun! Louis Ledford May 19th: Louis Ledford at Cafe Evolution Louis Ledford is a vegan singer/songwriter from Virginia who will be performing his insightful folk music to accompany a vegan shindig at Cafe Evolution. The event will be a Vegan Bus fund raiser and we will be serving specially-themed "vegan diner food". Doors and food at 5:30pm, music starts at 7pm (dinner will still be available). Suggested donation of $5 for the artist, food proceeds go to the Vegan Bus.

Louis Ledford's music is featured on Vegan Radio 77.

Louis Ledford’s forthright, Southern tales match the songwriting craftsmanship of Kris Kristofferson with the rolling piedmont fingerpicking style exemplified by Etta Baker. Practitioner of the “no metaphor” school of songwriting, His subjects, often centered around the effects of poverty on the human spirit, paint unforgettable portraits that insinuate themselves in your memory. - Andrew Calhoun, Waterbug Records.

raquy and the cavemen June 27th: Raquy and the Cavemen at Northampton Center for the Arts!

We are very excited to be bringing Vegan International Middle Eastern drumming sensation Raquy and the Cavemen back to Northampton this year. Last year Raquy drew a sold out crowd for our September Fundraiser at the First Churches. This year we hope the additional space at The Northampton Center for the Arts will help us draw even more people. We will also be organizing drumming workshops and other events throughout the weekend.
